The point of the film is to create a surreal life through a dream. An experience any person would love to have in real life, however it is supposed to emphasize either recurrently throughout the film or at the end that it is solely just a dream. The dream is supposed to center the lifestyle of a trapstar, one like Pop Smoke, who is from the hood and turned famous and has to deal with a fun life of success but a dangerous past that can catch up to them at any given time. The setting is supposed to flashback and flashforward from the celebrity’s past which include being a teenager who went to school and had a hard life at home. This hard life included having to rep a gang he had no choice but to become affiliated with because he is from the same hood this gang is from. He tries to use school as a way to “get out” from underneath this lifestyle of being chased by opposing members of another gang or being peer pressured to doing immoral things for the one he reps. However, school being something that he is good at is not enough for his passion and desire to leave the hood for a better purpose. Flashing forward to the celebrity life, full and sold out arenas with flashing lights, crowds moving in slow motion with such glorious spirits and the subtle moments that humble and excite the celebrity all at the same time is what makes him happy he’s made the decisions he’s made in life. He does realize what lifestyle he’s come from so his lyrics reflect that struggle, pain, and grind he had to endure in order to become what and who he is now. The same lyrics also describe the fancy lifestyle he is able to live now which includes spending money on cars, houses, outings and family. The reality then resurfaces as an alarm clock goes off and shows 7 am on the reading. Another little boy in his teenage age of about 17 arises and gets ready for school. As he is dressed and says goodbye to his mother and begins his journey walking down his neighborhood, he has headphones listening to the same song by the artist in his dream. He notices a group of guys waving at him trying to get his attention pass the music, he pauses the song. He then hears wassup from one of the guys who called him by his name and he flashes a sign with his hand. The teenage boy repeats the same sign back and puts his headphones back on as he ventures onward to school. The ending of the film is supposed to conclude with the boy’s walk down the street with the headphones bumping to the same song from the dream. It also should suggest the boy relates to the past life of the artist in his dream and doesn’t realize he may want to become or do the same thing he did. The film should also suggest that music can be something you can relate to because it contains things you may resonate with from your own personal life.
It Was Just A Dream

This a very interesting topic and from dreams come out many realities of course not all dreams lead fruition but at least there is the desire to strive for more and make concrete improvement into one’s life
Hi Leeyah, I’m really impress on how well thought and clear your story is. Your explanation of the plot is very vivid and it will take the viewer to a roller coaster of emotions. I just wish you can honor this movie with the limitations we have with “animoto”.
Hello Leeyah! I really like how you implemented a dream within a story and then continued the story in real life. In addition, the dream is about Pop Smoke, who really brought something unique to the rap industry with his deep voice and meaningful lyrics. The story is done very well. I have this feeling of sympathy towards the little boy that plays the song from his dream but doesn’t realize that he could have the same potential as Pop Smoke. For the audience who enjoyed Pop smoke while he was alive and still does, this story could make them very emotional, which shows what a great job you have done. Keep up the work!
