First and foremost, I absolutely LOVED watching all the trailers and reading the visual statements to gain insight into the creators’ thought process. I admire the creativity and organizational process that went into creating each composition. The topics that each person chose and their decision-making in the clips they included, shed light on what issues are important in their lives and what they think about it. The best part about that is I’ve been able to learn so many new things from these research-based creative stories. These expositions give incredible insights into the history of certain systems, traditions, and ways of life.

I personally faced difficulty in finding gifs and images that perfectly articulated my vision, so I was really impressed that the trailers looked smooth and put together. I noticed that others had similar topics to mine, and we were able to provide unique angles to the subject matter.

I have too many favorites so here are two on a topic I found interesting:

I really enjoyed Yaseen’s video. Right off the bat, his video stood out because he went above and beyond to record his own material and incorporate it with stock clips and gifs. Through “Crybaby”, he explored the idea of loss, grief, and depression. I think his creative choice of having no audio or dialogue spoke volumes about the empty and unclear feelings during moments where people feel lost. Similarly, Jorge created an incredible trailer discussing death and its impact on those who have to experience the loss of a loved one. He touched on ways people grief, to allow others to relate.
