Multimodal: utilizing different modes—a mode here being a way of communicating—in one combined whole. A lot of what we consume is multimodal, such as a film (image, sound, text) or a website (image, sound, text).
Remix: to reuse, rearrange, or make new a cultural artifact using pre-existing content. In this case, you’ll be utilizing work you’ve already done to create this project.
Concept
For Core Assignment 3, you’re going to be creating a multimodal project and remixing your writing into a new thing in the world—not just another essay, but a concept design of cultural artifact informed by your work and ideas.

This is a remix to an Imagine Dragons song, called Believer, I remember hearing this live in concert then Trap Nations which has became one of the biggest remix channels on YouTube made a remix and I loved it. They keep the song fairly similar until they completely change it electronically.

Something Special is supposed to be a remix to So Into You which is a lovely rap star solo take on the traditional hip hop love song from the 90’s. Pop’s new method of love songs is a different route than what we’re used to hearing from him. This remix is proof of just that, something new that he’s trying that is not too far from what he can do already.

This took the song cant touch this and made a corona remix. It looks like it is in a school setting and the principal is warning everyone to not spread the virus by touching this.

This song is a remix of one of my favorite Billie Eilish songs. The creator of this remix adds an electronic mix to the audio making the song more upbeat and something you’d want to dance to.

This is one of my favorite multimodal remix, also known as an AMV (animated music video). In this particular video, the creator compiled cool fighting scenes of a character from Attack on Titan, and heightened the effect of the scenes with a motivating song like Legends Never Die. I really like how it was edited to match the actions in the clips with the change in rhythm and speed of the music.

This takes the song “Plug Walk” and combines it with some scenes from a show to make an incredibly groovy and entertaining video. It also uses special effects to move the video according to how the song is going, adjusting colors and speed.

It makes the original Earth my Lil Dicky more rhythmical and enjoyable. The chorus has totally changed, making it new and really strong. When anyone new had never heard this song, they wouldn’t know it was a cover.

This is a remix of Sad by xxxtentacion. It changes the genre of the music from emo-rap/ alternative R&B to something different. It changes the way the song sounds but also has a hint of the original vibe. You can still hear the sadness in the song but it also sounds more upbeat.

This is a mashup song between “Heartbeat” by Childish Gambino and “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen. Call Me Maybe was an extremely popular song when it came out, and Childish Gambino was beginning to gain more traction in his music career.

The creator of this video turned clips from his game into something that is almost like a music video, where his gunshots and actions line up with the music that he has added.

After vine died, people made compilations of the funniest ones. In this video, they selected many vine videos and compiled it into one while adding some music in the background. They repeated, accelerated and slowed down some of the videos.

I’m pretty sure this counts as a remix. It’s a skit that remixes David Blaine’s personality and actions as the core of the video, and puts weird and comical twists on it. It’s a completely new artifact for a bunch of reasons, but mainly because it’s known to some people more than David Blaine himself (idk who that guy is) and it’s completely original in it’s own sense.

Here’s a “trap remix” of the kazoo kid. The creator took a popular meme and added a completely unrelated element to create a funny little music video.

This is a remix of a episode of jojo where the main character plays a game to defeat an enemy. This time the game is minecraft which helps it to connect to the viewers because it is a popular game that many play.

The gambler in remix gives it a new freshness and make it more acceptable among a younger generation although the verses have been slightly modified but still the meaning is solidly clear

This is one of my favorite summer remix songs ever. This is a much faster and upbeat version of the original. The catchy guitar riff becomes the main hook of the song. Synths give a techno atmosphere. They add percussion instruments which it makes it a more danceable tune. It sounds very European if that can be said.

This remix introduced new beats to the song. These new beats alter the overall mood of this song and extend the length of it. The original piano soundtrack was remove and replace with electronic song track.

This remix combines the original song with two covers of it, combining it into the length of the original song and replacing certain verses and hooks.

It turns the original song into a new artifact by putting in new verses from different rappers that increases the duration of the song. Although the chorus and some verses remain the same, they have been switched to a different timing compared to the original song.
