The difficult road to achieving equality between men and women

In “the  City of ladies”, the “the City of ladies” is built, which has the most accomplished women to defend against the power of men’s blame, and represents the true power and nature of women. But can this really achieve equality between men and women? At that time, men seemed to think that women were just having children and spinning wool. Women were seen as a tool to have more children and become housewives. At that time, women lacked the ability to challenge male authority and were always damaged in society, while men had all power. This book is about changing the ideas of women at that time, but the society we live in today promotes equal opportunities, men and women have the same chance of success, and society judges everyone based on their ability rather than sex.

  1. I agree with you that “Boof of Cities of ladies” is about changing the ideas of women at that time because Pizan herself is a changed woman. She was always taught that women are just tools to men, but when all the males in her life have left her behind, she realized that without them she still is a human and that she still needs to survive, and she needs to do that all by herself. Although It was hard for her to do so since women were so oppressed by society during that time, but she still stood up and started this difficult road so that the later generation, which is us, could live in a more gender-equal society that we live in today.

  2. I agree with you regarding ‘The City of Ladies’, I really love the name of the book, it is very powerful and inspiring. Pinza’s goal is helping all the woman and building a city of ladies to defends men’s perception of woman as useless, housewives. Which It is very depressing that women don’t have right or power to purse their career dreams at that time, but I am very inspired by Pinza’s attitude and energy.
