Hi Everyone!
(This is the best place to leave your introductory comment, so that everyone can just go back to the beginning to find them.) I’m Stephanie Hershinow, and I’m excited to be your professor this semester. A few things about me: I got my PhD from Johns Hopkins, where I became a big Baltimore Ravens fan (I know, I know). I have two cats named Lolo (short for Lothario) and Ira. The best book I read recently is probably Life After Life by Kate Atkinson. And, as you learned today, I’m the first person in my family to go to college, and I am a terrible winker. (Really, really terrible.) I’m really looking forward to this semester. I think we’re going to have a great time and learn a lot!
My name is Frank Cimadomo Baruch is my 3rd college (went to Arizona State University and Westchester Community College) before transferring here. I majored in business administration and marketing before changing to my current english major. My thoughts and reason for changing majors is because I would like to be a copywriter and eventually a creative director at a major ad agency after college. The truth is some days I wake up and think that an office job will suck the life out of me since I enjoy being active. However if I do wind up in an office what would be cooler than having something I created right in the middle of Madison Avenue for all to see.
Hi everyone. My name is Mason Chen and I’m a junior here at Baruch. Like many of you I’m majoring in English. write campaigns for Dungeons and Dragons as a hobby and I plan on getting a teaching degree after graduating Baruch.
Hello everyone, my name is Maya Jack. I’m a senior and I am majoring in English and minoring in Black Studies. I was a Finance major fall semester and I only had five classes left to complete my degree. It took me 4 years to realize that I didn’t like the subject. I still have not decided if I want to become a teacher.
Hello everyone, my name is Anam Wyne. I am a junior, and I am majoring in Accounting, and my minor is English. I am planning to pursue English as a major after completing graduation in Accounting. English is not my first language, but, I love to learn more about it.
Hi, my name is Nick Gaffney. I’m a sophomore and I’m more than likely going to major in English, though I really like history, too. My family had originally encouraged me to major in something business related, so I tried accounting and I absolutely loathed it. I’m not entirely sure what I’d like to do after college, I’m still in the process of figuring that out.
Hi, my name is Angela Ye. I’m a sophmore majoring in Accounting and minoring in English. I am seriously debating my major, but I’ve yet to decide.
Hi, my name is Shaima Chowdhury and I am a double major in English and Political Science with a minor in Psychology. This is my last semester at Baruch and I am excited! However, I still not no idea what I would like to do after college. Like many students I had absolutely no idea what to major in, so I decided to pick the topics I love the most and made them into my major. At the end of the day I have no regrets and have enjoyed studying both english and political science.
Hello,
I’m Keita Jones and I’m an amateur blogger. Please excuse me if this is posted incorrectly. I’m a senior at Baruch finishing up my English degree this year. I’m looking forward to reading some cool texts and learning a bit more about the English language this semester.
Hi everyone, my name is Venetia Persaud and i am currently a sophomore at Baruch. As of right now, I am debating whether i should major in business journalism or journalism itself. By taking this class i am hoping to improve my writing and learn about different works of literature.
Hello everyone, my name is Anthony Migliore. I first off would like to wish you all good luck to your new start of a semester. This is my last year at Baruch College. So I’m very excited. What I’m trying to achieve in this class is to expand my knowledge in English literature, improve on my reading and writing. Good Luck to all and I’ll see you on Thursday.
Hi, my name is Sarah Park. I’m technically a Macaulay sophomore, but I actually took a break after my freshman year and travelled for a year and worked full-time in retail for another. Eventually I got tired of the nomadic lifestyle (and by that, I mean living the broke life lost its charm) so I’m back at Baruch as an English Major and Art History Minor. My favorite writers are Vladimir Nabokov, Haruki Murakami, and Neil Gaiman. I’m looking forward to getting to know all of you!
Hey guys! My name is Annamary Marte but you guys can call me Annie. I’m currently a senior, majoring in Corporate Communications and minoring in English. My hopes for the future is to pursue a career in public relations, preferably in the beauty industry. I’m still trying to figure things out along the way since, in my opinion, life is a never ending journey of self discovery. I look forward to broadening my knowledge on the literature we will be covering in class, as well as getting to know you all along the way 🙂 Good luck everybody, see you on Thursday!
Hello everyone, my name is Jailain Hollon and I am a junior at Baruch. I am majoring in English, and I am minoring in Film Studies and Journalism. I sporadically write for The Ticker, am currently working on a screenplay, and developing a blog site. I frequently read magazine and news articles, but I really love to read plays like ;Blues for Mister Charlie, Romeo and Juliet, Antigone, and A Street Car Named Desire. I want to be an editor of a magazine company and then create a magazine company of my own, and I still want one of my screenplays to be made into a great film. Above all else I look forward to having a great semester, see you Thursday!
Hey guys and gals! My name is William Sacerio and I’m currently double majoring in English and Philosophy. For the time being I don’t have any plans after college besides some more schooling, so I’m using my college experience to do what I love, that is, reading and writing. My favorite authors are Virginia Woolf, Aldous Huxley, and Christopher Isherwood. I hope to get to know all of you during our class’ journey through literature.
Hey everyone! My name is Amy Zeng and is currently a junior. My intended major was Accounting and minor was English but ever since this semester has begun, I have decided to major in English and minor in Communications. I read the news daily and love short stories. I am apart of the yearbook of Baruch and write/edit all the writing in it. I am also into photography and became a photographer for the school under the club, Lexicon. I hope to understand more about literature and be able to read more interesting pieces.
Hey everyone, you may remember me as the girl whose uncommon thing in class was that I like to play with ears. While this may be true, I’m not a COMPLETE weirdo. Haha. I’m currently a sophomore and I’m somewhat uncertain as to what my plans are after college. This is probably due to the fact that I’m in a business oriented school and have absolutely no interest in business! Eh, life. Anyway, I’m pretty big on English, always have been. I love to read and write and very much look forward to improving on my writing skills in this class as well as getting to know all of you.
Hey everyone!
My name is Monica Rivera and my uncommon thing was that I can sing opera. I am a English major and a sophomore. I was found writing to have the potential to be artistic. i really love poems and enjoy books that carefully describe the surroundings of the main character. I guess that’s why I prefer first-person books…it makes it easier to visualize the details. Well I really hope to improve my writing in this class! see you all tomorrow!
Hello i’m Charlton Villavelez and I transferred from Nassau Community College last Fall with an Associate’s Degree. So i don’t know if I’m still considered a Junior, but anyways I’m an English major. I don’t know what my minor will be yet. I watch more movies than I do reading books, but I am a fan of both mediums.
Hello Everybody!
My name is Albert Pariente-Cohen. I’m an English and Actuarial Science major (Math AND English? wutttt) in my upper sophomore year-yet considered a junior by credits. For those who might wonder why I love English, I love how one idea can be created, and people can delve into it deeper than Beowulf did when fighting the sea monsters. I love the beauty of the language we think, speak, write, and create a dynamic picture with. I’m very sociable with English as my weapon of choice, using it to connect to other people using mutual interests and conversing-it is all one really needs to do. Add a bit of humor to a long conversation and you have me in your local bar scene with some friends. Anyhow-after my short ramble-I’m looking forward to a great semester!
Hello my name is Billie Burgess. My major is Marketing and English is my minor. The reason why I choose English as my minor is due to the fact that I have a hard time expressing my thoughts. I have not had the opportunity to join any of the clubs that Baruch has to offer, I work full time as a Facility Manger at a studio. I love my job and the people I work with. If you do not remember me I am the girl with 16 stitches in her index finger from a dog attack.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Sofia Mogliazzi and I’m a journalism major with a minor in film. I was raised in Italy and have lived in NYC for 5 years. I graduate in May 2015 and love writing and reading and am excited about this course and all the great things we will read and discuss 🙂

Hi All,
My name is Giovanna Hudson. This is my last semester at Baruch, I am a senior double majoring in English Lit. & Corp. Communications. I, like most of you, am taking this as a requirement, but I’m interested to learn more about the classics. I hope to use both majors to become a Copywriter, and maybe one day pay it forward by becoming a professor. I don’t know if having me as a teacher would be a blessing for my future pupils or a curse.

Hello, I am Alee. I am an English major with a minor in Law and Policy. I will be graduating May 2015 and attending law school thereafter. I look forward to working with all of you this semester and reading your comments.
Ooops…had it in the wrong place for awhile. My bad.
Wow, I think I came here kinda late. But…uh, I’m Maria. I plan to go into neuroscience but I’m starting from scratch after majoring in psych. I thought this was a 19th century literature class but Chaucer was beautiful so I stayed. I ‘do art’ for fun and recommend a cheeseburger on a bagel, at Bagel Express across from Baruch. Represent.
