Final Artist Statement

Art is such a brilliant and powerful way to express one’s ideas and feelings, or at least I believe that. That was exactly the first sentence of my original artist statement. I, therefore, realized how accurate I was about it, at the end of my New Media Arts class. It proved once more that it makes you feel so great when you can just put something solid only from your own, and this is Art. There is no limitation or censorship in art. You have the utmost freedom as possible on earth; there is nothing that provides as much freedom as Art provides. Freud states art as a way to counter the experience of suffering, and I agree. I want my life to be intoxicated by the means of Art. There is no suffering when you do art; it is like you do not live in this pathetic world anymore but live in somewhere else where there is no suffering at all but all happiness.

At the beginning of our art class, I did the assignments because I was simply worried about my grade; however, while time passed, unconsciously I started doing all the assignments and gave my time only for the sake of enjoyment of art. I started enjoying the work we did in the class and outside. I think it is the magic of Art that it is so pleasurable and satisfy the people. It is the freedom and happiness in art that makes people so addicted. Let it intoxicate my body, too!

Response to the Movie RIP

I personally find the movie very interesting. It is a problem that was never touched before, or I haven’t seen the others. The movie, I think, is very inspirational. It showed a lot of things that before, never caught my attention. For instance, I did not know that the whole music industry was monopolized by several companies. I realized that music (not only music, but generally art) is a huge business, especially in the United States. That is actually pretty sad, because I thought the musicians and artists were doing what they do only for the sake of enjoyment and enlightenment; however, turned out to be not true, because if an artist were to make art only for the enlightenment of the culture, they would have no problem with other people having their work and putting new stuff on it. In the movie, it clearly points out the fact that it was the way how cultures build upon other ones in the information age. That is against the whole idea of art and culture. And it is pretty sad seeing such artists like Girl Talk, can get into jail just for doing what everyone should do in the first place; building cultures upon cultures, creating richness of our society. Thank You Girl Talk for what you’re doing.
