Immigration Rap

Now this is a story all about how

My life got flipped-turned upside down

And I’d like to take a minute

Just sit right there

I’ll tell you how I got deported from my hometown LA

In southern California, born and raised

Outside of the house, where my parents spent their days

Working hard, sweating, grinding all day

Coming home with even less than minimum pay

When a couple of guys who were up to no good

Started charging double in my neighborhood

They lost one little job and they got all scared

“Y’all better go back to Mexico,” they declared

I didn’t understand why day after day

More of these men kept saying those types things

I watched the tv and I saw the news

Turns out people wanted Mexicans to lose

For me in class, it isn’t so bad

I’m not the only with an immigrant dad

Is this what the adults of LA are like?

Hmmmmm, that’s not alright

But wait I hear the elections are near

Is this the type of thing that can help this disappear?

I don’t know

I’ll watch the debate

Yikes, looks like there’s a lot of hate

The debates have ended, the votes came out

There’s a dude who looks like a carrot trying to kick us out

I’m not trying to get deported

I was born here

What else can I do, la migra just got here

I didn’t understand but then it came clear

Even though I do, they think I don’t belong here

My family was summoned, a letter to the “Garcias”

We were the only ones, not even my friend from Korea

We pulled up to a wall about 40 feet tall

And I asked the driver, “Where are we getting off?”

He looked at my family,

He said “we’re here…

It’s time for you to go back to your home tier”
