Industrial-Organizational (I-O) psychology (i.e., the psychology of work) is the scientific study of the workplace (SIOP, n.d.). More specifically, I-O psychology derives principles of individual, group, and organizational behavior and applies this knowledge to workplace problems (APA, n.d.). Some areas of interest to I-O psychology include, but are not limited to:
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
- Occupational health and safety
- Training and development
- Recruitment and selection
- Workplace motivation
- Work-life balance
- Organizational change
- Organizational structure and design
- Performance management
