Prof. Jorge Téllez (University of Pennsylvania) presents his ongoing book project on how 21st-century Latin American novels engage the figure of the museum to reflect on the relationship between collective and individual cultural memory in our contemporary hypermediated society. In these novels, the museum as an institution appears in its complex and problematic nature as the repository of colonialist imagination and violence and as a site where fiction can teach us to look at the world and to listen to each other by taking a sept back from our hectic lives.
