I believe, the fine line between persuasion and manipulation occurs when we start to believe in something and are “controlled” by the content. In result, we are acting on behalf of the content’s main purpose, whether it’s the constant return to it. By definition, manipulation implies persuasion, whereas, persuasion just introduces someone else perspective.
As a classmate mentions, there has to be a period of persuasion prior to manipulation. My perspective towards this is that manipulation is like a magician doing a card trick, prior to pulling out the audience’s care from the stack, you prep their mind to picking that card by exposing them to the number and symbol. So, with this being said, every small implicit detail adds authenticity.
