Regarding to persuasive speech, the three appeals: ethos, pathos, and logos; are necessary in this category of speech.

1. Ethos, the persuasive appeal that concentrates on credibility. Credibility is conducted by stating personal experiences  in the particular topic that’s being persuaded.  An example of ethos would be using proper syntax and correct grammar, and language the reflects your audience/ topic. (ex. As a sophomore college student, I am qualified to tell you every course taken is required at least, twice the amount time a class lasts, to study.)
2. Pathos, the emotions appeal, is to persuade the audience by appealing to their emotions. This appeal fits more towards the the end of a conclusion. It is known that emotions are to be remembered more than information by itself, this is because when we place emotions on a particular artifact by default it is remembered. An example of pathos would be using emotions stories, emotional tone, or to inspire anger from your audience to result into action. (ex. The end result of drinking and driving can mean the loss of a relative, or best friend, the one that stayed along side since the start of your journey in life, gone.)
3. Logos, the logic appeal, is considered to be the appeal in which reasoning is used when communicating. This includes: facts, statistics, literal analogue, etc. An example of logos would be to use citation of facts or the use of theoretical language. (ex. According to blogs.baruch.duny.edu/eng2150fall2017, eng 2150 is an English course that applies rhetorical analysis to compare the ornaments of language and how they maintain a symbiotic relationship.)

• For the example of ethos, is successful because of the level of experience this author is directly stating of being a current sophomore student.
• For the example of pathos, it feels more of an ending statement for a conclusion, and introduces the criticalness of drinking and driving resulting in the loss of an important person in one’s life.
• For the example of logos, it states facts about the English course 2150 that can be revisited through the blog website that’s stated.

By examining the relevance of the topic prior choosing a persuasive appeal, you increase your chances in reaching out to your audience. Compared to talking to a professor and your family, to achieve a favor from a professor the conversation has to be kept professional, compared to a little sibling pathos can be used to advice him/her for they will believe you since your have a level of expertise.
