Hi, my name is Jessica. It is kind of difficult to summarize myself with only a few words. But I am a freshman in Baruch College and I am currently deciding what I would like to major in and what I like to do as a future career. But I do have a list of the job professions that I don’t want to participate in: doctor/nurse, lawyer and teacher. I have decided this even before I coming into college.
Last year, I went to Edward R Murrow High School where I major in the fine arts. I like to draw from photographs and paint them afterwards. As an art student, I had to make sure that my works are original, creative, and complete. Art project deadlines were tight and always near. I didn’t like it at first but then I started to adopt it into my life as a hobby. I made great friends who taught me so much. This was the place where I spent my four years in before coming to college.
Now I am in Baruch, another school where I will continue to learn and find my place in the world. I am currently searching through clubs and making new friends. I tried to get in delta sigma pi, which is a business fraternity club. However, I made some few mistakes and I lost my chance. I also visit Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. That was fun and I plan on staying in this club. I also plan on visiting the Absolute adrenaline club soon. I don’t know what the future lie ahead for me but I am still exploring different paths.
Jessica,
It’s always good to narrow the field down! haha.
I think I walk by Murrow on my way to the subway almost every day. What a school. The fine arts department in Baruch is amazing, so if you decide to pursue a career in art or graphics, you’ll find yourself in the hands of very capable professors and a graphics lab editors dream of.
You know, what doesn’t happen is sometimes for the best. As you try to figure out your norm and how much on-campus activities you can fit in your schedule, make sure they do not detract from your studies so that you won’t get anxious in the long run. If Delta Sigma Pi fills your dreams till next semester, then you can always try again.
