Crisis In Syria

The international reporters that are covering the story in Syria often suffered harsh treatment while reporting abroad. Reporters put their lives on the line just to bring the people of the world their news, and to keep people informed the troubling world we live in. Since the presence of social media has increased at a rapid rate, users can instantly be updated on what is occurring around the world. There has been video evidence of reporters being tortured, and beheaded in Syria over social media platforms. There is a saying that goes, which is also a book “don’t kill the messenger”.

Local militias put local journalists in danger for just reporting the news in their own country. These militias would attack the journalists, even while they are in the middle of reporting.  Foreign journalists would be in even more danger because of the distrust between Syrians and the United States for example. Even though it is dangerous, it is the reporters duty to bring the news of the conflict going on in Syria. Personally, I think journalists such as the ones seen in third party organizations such as Vice News are incredibly brave, and are even braver than the local news stations we have such as Fox News or CNN.

The crisis in Syria got so bad that citizens are being forced out of the country with nowhere left to turn. Therefore, if the world does not know about this conflict then we are thinking there is not conflict to be resolved. The footage seen was in fact a disturbing one, but unfortunately these are some of the risks they take as journalists.
