MacKenzie O’Brien – Bio

I was born and raised upstate in Rochester, New York and have lived in New York City for the past two and a half years. I attended SUNY Buffalo State College for two years studying journalism and then transferred to CUNY Baruch College to complete my degree. Set to graduate in December 2013, my major is journalism with a minor in communications.

My interest in journalism came with

I work part-time as well at The Brandman Agency, a luxury travel and hospitality public relations firm. I’ve been there for about a year now having started as an intern last fall. After 6 months the company made a part-time position for me in hopes I will start full-time post-graduation. Some clients I work with are InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, GRADE Architecture + Interior Design and Mount Gay Black Barrel Rum.

In my free time I enjoy traveling and experiencing various aspects of culture, especially food, art, architecture and film. I have a particular affinity for documentaries and thriller movies. Some of my favorite cuisines are Thai and Indian. Having just moved to East Harlem, I also enjoy exploring the up-and-coming neighborhood with new restaurants and apartment buildings popping up every week.

Some of my more exciting travels have been to Australia and New Zealand as well as Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Los Angeles, California. In the near future I hope to spend some time in Europe since I have yet to visit.

I’m an avid tech fan and extreme Apple loyalist. I keep up with technology news probably more than any other topic. I’m also a big hip-hop music fan and am always eager to hear the latest releases from artists I follow.
