1. Stanford Community Petition Harsher Sentence for Rapist
In response to Judge Aaron Persky’s controversial decision to giver former Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner a lenient sentence in response to his heinous sexual assault, a petition has gone out in favor of giving Turner a much harsher punishment. The petition has been signed by 250 Stanford students, alumni, and faculty. The embedding of the original petition fleshes this story out in a way that mere excerpts from the petition couldn’t do.
2. 300 Reindeer killed by lightning strike in Norway
In a very bizarre incident, 300 reindeer were killed by one lightning strike near Oslo, Norway. Even with the embedded video showing the carnage of the deer, the story itself takes a while to sink in for readers.
After a misunderstanding resulted in a shooting panic at JFK Airport, the NY Times reported the event using the perspectives of three passengers who were in the terminal at the time. While there is a video, it doesn’t feature any of the three passenger’s testimonies. Rather, it’s a collection of Instagram videos taken around the beginning of the event and during the evacuation outside the terminal.
4. Trump and Clinton’s Transparency
In the latest bit of mudslinging between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, both are demanding each other to release their respective health records to the public. This is part of a long line of dramatic events that have unfolded since the end of both parties’ conventions. While there are videos about both candidates and their campaigns, neither one highlights the issue in question: their lack of transparency.
