Troy Bowers grew up in a rough area of Staten Island. Living in the projects Bowers was confident that he could make his way out and leave a legacy. Bowers went to Boston College, where he played professional basketball. From 1987 until 2000, Bowers would go on to have a great professional career in sports, playing overseas for the European Basketball League for several different national teams, including teams in: Spain, France, Belgium, Turkey, Croatia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Portugal, and Israel.

Student Becomes Teacher, Launches First Independent Youth Clinic
Sean Young [pictured holding up his finger] currently works in sports as event staff for the New York Knicks, coaching staff for clinics around the NYC area, as well as working as a coach for Basketball City – a state of the art facility where customers can rent available basketball courts and hold events. Young grew up in Fanwood, New Jersey and always dreamed about playing in the NBA or working in sports.

I had the opportunity to attend a Jr. Knicks clinic at the Ridgewood YMCA on April 28, 2016. At this clinic, boys and girls ages 5-9 participated in exercise drills in order to stay fit, healthy, and in the process, learn the fundamentals of basketball.
