Being an immigrant is hard. For men its hard to find a job but for women it’s work overload; doing things at a job and then at home. We see that it’s usually a mother who is trapped in the middle of family and work responsibilities. Gerson talks about all these in her book: The Unfinished Revolution.
“I understand what it’s like to work all day and come home and do stuff.” (Gerson, pp 121)
“Women more often feel caught between caring for children and bringing home a paycheck. Mothers continue to face pressure to be at home with their children even as they also face pressure to bring home an income” (Gerson, pp 121)
It is important to know and understand that immigration is a very hard and broad topic. We have to be aware what immigrant families go through for their family’s well being and what risks they take.
