http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/04/06/how-memoirists-mold-the-truth/

In the article, the author mentions a mother who rearranges furniture in order to cope with her troubles. It was a way for her to take control of her life. Symbolically, our past has a way of controlling our future.  Our memories cannot be erased. They will forever be there no matter what we do.  We can try to stretch the truth about our past, however, there is no way of erasing it.

The article relates to truth because the author of the article mentions how our past cannot be changed. It doesn’t matter how much we try to mold it and change it. The past will always reveal the truth about our identity.
