Creating a Preview Video for your Blog

Option 1: Uploading a filmed video to Youtube (so it can easily be embedded into the blog):
  1. Go to youtube.com and sign into your account. If you do not have one, Watch the following video to set up your account and channel if you don’t have one (in the advanced options we can change the visibility to “Unlisted” so people cannot find your videos unless they have a direct link):

2. Next you want to upload your video from peer-review discussion (keep it short for the preview videos 1-3 mins). This short video shows you how to upload your video. Remember to look at the “advanced options” and make it “unlisted.”:

Once you have posted your video to Youtube you can just copy and paste the link to embed your preview in your blog post. If you want to see how to embed a video, check out my video tutorial featured in the “Blog Advice and Tutorial” menu page in the class blog.

Option 2: Using Animoto (a good option if you do not want to create film or film yourself)
  1. To create you preview, consider what is the most exciting or interesting thing you have yo say in your post. A favorite sentence? Something a peer told you in review?
  2. It helps before you start to gather a few 3-4 jpeg images you might want to include and have them ready or choose hashtags you might use.
  3. Once you have gathered some keywords and images you are ready to play around and create your preview.
  4. Go to the Animoto free video making website: https://animoto.com
  5. Use your email to create an account.
  6. Once you have an account click the “Create” button to start making your preview.
  7. You can choose any template (I like the options under “Teaser” but you can choose any.
  8. Once you are done, click “Export” and “Copy Link” to get to a link  you can copy and paste into your blog and it will embed the same way Youtube does.
