- The MATH REFRESHER / INCOMING STUDENT QUANT WORKSHOP series is for all students who wish to review fundamental math concepts and/or prepare for statistics and economics courses. It covers material that is also found in a particular introductory workshop for incoming Marxe students.
- Topics include: decimals, fractions, percentages, scientific notation, graphing, probability, and an intro to statistics.
- The STATS & SOFTWARE FOR 9270 AND BEYOND series is focused on quant/stats concepts found in Data Collection and Description (PAF 9270), the first course in the research methods sequence. As such, it serves as preparation for more statistically focused classes. It also takes a closer look at the software– Stata, SPSS, Excel– used within stats courses, and highlights how to use these programs to make calculations and analyze data.
- Topics include variables, crosstabs, correlation vs regression, sigma notation, measures of central tendency, standard deviation, and an intro to Excel and other stats software. Relevant PAF courses include 9270, 9271, and more.
