Welcome

Hi, everyone, welcome to my Blog.

Look back to this semester, I have learned a lot in the ENG Writing class. I believed your writing skills must improve. For me, in the narrative and the research paper project, that helped me to achieve the 5 objectives which is read and analyze texts critically, write my own texts critically, identify and engage with credible sources and multiple perspectives, compose as a process and use conventions appropriate to audience, genre, and purpose.

  1. Read and analyze texts critically. For achieving this objective, I would say the narrative project is the most helpful one. Before I go to write my own essay, I would read a couple of papers from others. found out what the audience is in each paper, how the audience’s writing strategy is to develop his main idea and try to figure out what is the purpose that the author wants to tell. It actually helps me a lot,  I can learn the highlights of their writing, not to plagiarize, of course, but to learn their way of thinking and writing, to polish my own.
  2. Write my own texts critically. For writing my own narrative paper, first at all I would decide which group of audience that I am going to write for. And choose a topic that I want to talk about with this group. Usually, I prefer to use my real experience as a way to get closer with the audiences. The delicate description of feelings is an advantage of my writing. I like to describe one or one thing in the way of words to express the character’s expression, psychological activity, mood and so on. The audience would get more into the writing by this way.
  3. Identify and engage with credible sources and multiple perspectives. The research paper project helped me achieve this objective. Because you have to do a lot of search and read a large number of sources to finish your topic. Also, you have to Distinguish between information that is useful to you and information that is false and unreliable. You also need to gather different groups of people from different backgrounds who have different views on the subject. What’s more important is that you analyze, categorize and organize the materials. During this school year, we learned primary, secondary,  pop, and academic sources.
  4. Compose as a process. Still improved by a research paper project, as what I said above. You need to Organize the materials and information you need. Then quote, or summarize, the text you need correctly. How to structure the language, provide accurate information and connect your personal ideas to write your essay. What’s more important is how you use the data you’ve gathered to support your ideas.
  5. Use conventions appropriate to audience, genre, and purpose. For the research paper, the language that I would choose is more formal. And would not put more subjective opinion in that, rather more based on the academic information. The audience would be every person. But for the narrative essay, I am more likely to share my story. The audience would be more limited compared with research papers.

In conclusion, in this semester we all learned more to become a good writer or critical reader. Identify credible sources, and engage with multiple perspectives is an important skills for our writing in further. Writing is a process that requires planning, organizing, and editing. Using appropriate conventions for the audience, genre, and purpose is crucial for effective communication. By achieving these five objectives, we can become an effective and skilled writer.
