Problem with FASB Codification access–suggest CCH Accounting Research Manager

There seems to be a problem with the password and login information for accounting students logging into the FASB Codification.  I have contacted the accountancy professor  about this. (I did a workshop Tuesday for the class that has an assignment.)

While this special access is being resolved, students have access to the FASB Codification through CCH Accounting Research Manager.  They can learn more through this LibGuide: http://guides.newman.baruch.cuny.edu/fasbcodification.

Permanent links now available in LexisNexis

LexisNexis has announced that they are supporting the creation of permanent links to their articles. The icon of a clipboard with the link symbol appears on the top right of the screen, near the print and email icons. If you click on that, you will get a link that can be copied and pasted. More information can be found here.

Just a reminder that this link does not contain the remote prefix, so it will be availalable on campus only (or after authenticating). Please contact me if you would like to know how to add the remote prefix.

Additional information: to citation for an article assigned for a POL 2001 or 2240 class

I tried to help a student find an article with the following title, which her syllabus said

was in Scientific American, Nov./Dec. 2009, and by Stanovic.  I learned it was published in Scientific American Mind, and the author is Stanovich.  It is available full text through several Newman databases–Academic Search Complete and Masterfile Premier.

Here’s the citation information from Academic Search Complete

What Model Calculators are being distributed?

I received an email reference question about what model calculators were being distributed and did not find this information anywhere in our signage throughout the library, at the library’s website or even in the reference wiki.
I updated the reference wiki to reflect this information and would suggest signage be revised to reflect this key information. This would avoid confusion with other types of calculators students may be interested in borrowing for the semester (i.e. financial calculators).
