Twitter has developed into an empire with Morris at the Helm to run it all

“Twitter Adds CBS to Its Stable of Big Advertising Partners” written by Vindu Goel about Twitter adding partners to help expand the social media exert. Last year, the powerful media site gained partnership with ESPN and Ford. Ford and ESPN paid Twitter to post the ads to its millions of Twitter users while each company made money from the users responding/clicking the ads. The newest partnership was formed with CBS. CBS is using Twitter to advertise 42 products, anywhere from TV Guide ads to fantasy football ads. As Twitter increases its incoming revenue, each partner gets a piece of the “pie” (metaphorically, of course). Twitter has began selling stocks to the public which will also increase their revenue. Twitter is used by millions of people around the world. The format allows its users to broadcast anything (within 160 characters) instantly making it one of the most successful media outlets. Television companies and product companies have increased their desire to be apart of the social media frenzy, recently. Twitter not only amplifies the success of its partnerships but it also brings in more money for the company itself. Both partners (Twitter and CBS) work together to reinforce their success by promoting the viewers to each site like a tennis match (back and forth, repeatedly). In the article, it states that 58 percent more buyers encouraged by a Twitter ad, then on television were likelier to buy the product. CBS can establish itself on Twitter by “tweeting” or sending live messages which interest the viewers who are targeted by the content in the ad. However, for viewers, this creates some angst due to the fact that they know enough information about you to target what products you might buy or be interested in. An example given within the article was the Emmy Awards. 17,000 tweets per minute were posted while Carrie Underwood preformed. This shows how powerful mass media is and how it can be manipulated to provide the consumer with more products. While most of Twitters financials are sealed, most of us know that Twitter is doing very well for itself. This is due to the fact they have mass media marketing and a large population of users/viewers which attract the consumer to the producer. David Morris states that “adding Twitter to your buy, you will sell more stuff,” which has added emphasis to the attraction (along with money flow). The article talks about the success of Twitter and how the partnership with CBS will benefit everyone and leave money in everyone’s pockets.
