Grieving Father Finds an Outlet in Music
When horrible things happen to us, we often have to find some way to channel our anger, or sadness, or frustration in order to cope. In this article, the father of a six year old victim of the Newtown shootings used music as his way to channel his grief. This man, Jimmy Greene is a well known jazz musician and his daughters tragic death is what inspired him to begin writing again. He named his new album “Beautiful Life,” in dedication to her. He wanted to use his music as a way to help her live on in some sense. This article was heart breaking to read, but at the same time the way that this man is dedicating so much for his little girl was extremely moving. I can’t imagine how it would feel to be in his position, and to be able to take a positive path for coping with his grief rather than a destructive one must have been so difficult to do at first. I’m really glad for him that he was able to shed somewhat of a positive light on such a horrible thing that happened.
