  1. The writer tells the problem in a very persuasive way that seems drawn from experience and that is relatable for anybody working a public organization. Having said that, I believe she could have used a number of concrete examples earlier in the piece as well as contrasting statistics. For instance: the Congressional staffers salaries compared to the average lobbing income or the average Representative and/or Senator’s salary.

    Another aspect that could have been included is who is actually able to work for that little money for years, is this a system that benefits the children of elite families who could support their low wages in one of the costliest cities in the U.S.?

    She does finish her memo strongly backing up her arguments with statistics which support her claims well. I am truly interested in this topic as I consider a possible semester in D.C. and I look forward to hearing more about it.
