A really great read Kyle. You have a lot of research and statistics to support the urgency of this issue. Limited transportation access has been a challenge for many low income job seekers. I personally worked with a job readiness program at LaGuardia Community College and if MetroCards were not provided, most of our participants would have been unable to complete the program or go to job interviews. My only suggestions are to explore whether you can connect limited transport access for low-income New Yorkers to additional pressing issues to bolster the need of addressing this problem (crime in inaccessible areas, difficulty in receiving medical care, etc.). Another suggestion I have is reading about Robert Moses, a city planner who was responsible for designing much of NYC’s current infrastructure. Many have accused his designs with favoring private vehicles over public transportation and isolating low income New Yorkers into poor neighborhoods.
