I remember four years ago, when the Olympics was held in Beijing the opening scene was amazing and well prepared. I love how creative it was and it was obvious that China had actually put alot of effort to prepare this. However, the opening for the Olympics in London was a little bit disappointing. To be honest, i am completely lost with the Olympics this year because i did not catch up with all those events going on. I either surf online for results and medal count, or watch short highlights. If only cable can provide live access to each competition held, then i would have the motivation to watch each competition for the Olympics. I get annoyed when i only have the opportunity to watch small clips online, or watch 30 second scenes from the news about the Olympics.
I am not an athletic person so not all types of sports would be appealing to me. However, swimming, diving and high bars might be the sports i will only watch during the Olympics.
It is amazing to see how all of these wonderful athletes from all over the world spend years preparing themselves to be able to compete for their country in the Olympics.
Based on my Opinion, it is very difficult for small countries to be able to compete in the Olympics because countries like US, China, England, Japan, seems to be on top of the list throughout most of the Olympics record.
Just today, they announced about the Badminton scandal between Korea, Indonesia and China. They were disqualified for they act of not “giving their best effort to win a match.” I don’t agree with this statement because they are being disqualified for not giving effort. It doesn’t really make sense! I know it is the Olympics and it is a big deal for the whole world, however, you can’t really force someone to win. It is not a valid statement after all. Now, there’s rumors spreading all around about how these three countries are trying to cheat to win a medal. After watching to clips, i’m pretty sure that they all have the skills in order to be able to participate in the Olympics. But they are doing this as a Strategy, not a way to cheat. We never know what the truth is about this scandal and what we see might not be always be true.
Altogether, the scandal was surprising and upsetting at the same time. however, i think i should catch up with the Olympics.
