NBC's Olympic Broadcasting

August 2, 2012 by bb-pawprint

Gabby Douglas won gold in the women’s individual all-around gymnastics event this afternoon at 1:30p.m. Yet NBC will not be broadcasting this until 8pm or later, tonight. If the final result has already been released, then what’s the point of airing the event ?

We tune into the Olympics to watch the teams compete. We like to see how some fall and rise to the occasion. We like to expect the unexpected.
When the final results are about to be shown, everyone is practically hanging out of their seats in anguish, the results will either be what we hoped for, or a complete turn over. This momentum is what makes sports so exciting.
This momentum though, has now been lost for the night. When the women’s all-around airs tonight, I doubt there will be crazy fanatics glued to their t.v. The questions of, “who will be the winner,” has already been answered.
