There are a couple of ways to get where I live. One way is to take the A train to 207th and from there take a bus. Upon entering and exiting the 207th street A train station, one cannot help but notice the huge silver mosaic letters that spell out âÂÂAt the startâ then in another section of the station âÂÂAt long last.â This is part of the artwork, âÂÂAt the Start…At Long Lastâ By Sheila Levrant de Bretteville. The artwork was placed in the station in 1999. Among the huge mosaics, Bretteville also included tiles which depicted the experience of recent immigrants. Though I have never taken the elevator at the 207th station, on the walls there are pictures of latino civilizations. One of my personal favorites is the etching on the handrails leading to the mezzanine, lyrics to âÂÂTake the A Trainâ by Billy Strayhorn. I found it unique and looked up a little more about the A train. It is the longest subway line in all of NYC. Personally, I love the A train because it can get me from BâÂÂway Junction in Brooklyn to 207th street in the Bronx in about an hour and a half. Good job A train, good job.
