Melting Pot of Cultures Makes up Food Heritage in New Orleans

The Museum of Southern Food and Beverage is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

New Orleans is synonymous with food. Shrimp creole, jambalaya, dirty rice and beignets are plentiful on the streets of a historic city that celebrates its tricentennial anniversary this year. I visited the Southern Food & Beverage Museum — which conveniently houses the Museum of the American Cocktail — to learn more about how food is a vital cog in New Orleans’s cultural wheel.
