No longer are music fans held by a string as artists slowly promote new music. Within the last couple of years, the music industry has transitioned from an extended promotional to an instantaneous body of work that can constantly be grown with just the click of a button.
Just a few days before the release of their first EP together, Jhene Aiko and Big Sean would release clips of a music video for a single of their EP, “Memories Faded.” As the two promoted the April 1 release on Instagram through mysterious videos and album covers, their past collaborations represent a template that would be duplicated in their work as Twenty88.
Big Sean and Aiko, both 28, joined forces on the eight-track set album, which tells the story of the highs and lows of a relationship, with insights into conflict, memories, love and sex. It seems as though Hip-Hop and R&B have collided to bring about a new project by two of their greatest artists.

No stranger to slow and sensual songs, Aiko and Sean express emotion with witty lyrics to Twenty88, which has its fair share of a couple of upbeat songs as well. This is not the first time that Big Sean and Jhene Aiko have collaborated on a project. Aiko has featured on the Detroit rapper’s albums, Hall of Fame and Dark Sky Paradise.
Speaking of features, K-Ci and Jojo, an R&B duo, lend their voices to “2 Minute Warning.” No other songs have features on them, as this project is all about the undeniable musical chemistry between the Aiko and Sean.

Twenty88 can be described as a 90s R&B album with a touch of 70s soul music, emphasizing on the feelings of raw and sexy young love. Sean and Aiko are a musical match made in heaven, making an album that is compelling to listeners with its startling honesty.
