Homosexuality In New Jersey
Civil Unions: the legal relationships of unmarried couples, whether heterosexual or homosexual, that gives them some of the same rights and duties as married people
Since 2006, the New Jersey Supreme Court has entitled that homosexual had same rights and benefits as heterosexuality. however, same sex couples’ rights to marry under the state constitution haven’t guaranteed yet. And, the Gov. Chris Christie vetoed the 2012 marriage equality bill later.
The Judge Mary Jacobson wrote 53-page decision to oppose about treating same sex couples unequally. She pointed that same sex couples in civil unions without legal marriages aren’t getting certain protections and benefits as married people.
On September 27, a new ruling requires New Jersey to allow legal marriage for same sex couples, and that brings New Jersey to join in other 13 states of allowing same sex marriage.
