This Friday I got out of class around noon  as usual, and it was such a nice and sunny day out that I could not resist to walk around the streets of Manhattan. Since I have fallen in love with Union Square ever since I came into the city I decided to walk around there. There was a Greenmarket at the time and it was so wonderful to see all the organic and fresh foods these ‘farmers’ brought into this big city. Instead of going on and on about it I decided to take pictures and present a travel blog…
Freshly made potato chips…! After looking at a crowd of people gathered in one place, after a bit, I realized the reason….FREE SAMPLES! It’s amazing how the word ‘free’ hits a nerve for most of us! I tried a potato chip or two…there wasn’t anything special about it!
I just love all the fresh vegetables and fruits, and according to their not so perfect and standardized appearance, you can tell that these fruits and vegetables are organic.
I never really liked pickles…I just thought they would make a good picture! 😀
I bought a whole wheat bread from this little shop…after a day it turned hard as a rock…there’s a waste of $4; however, the taste was fine!
I was thinking that the cold weather must be very convinient for the people selling fish at the greenmarket!!!
When I first saw these bunches of lavender I firstly said to myself ‘Isn’t $10 a bunch a little bit expensive?’. After eventually buying one I asked the lady who sold them to me how long do they last and she said that they last a couple of years…so that I guess is the explanation for the price. I divided this lavender bunch into four tiny vases and put them all over my apartment…hopefully their scent will help me relax more…
I thought this guy had a pretty nice presentation of his fruits and vegetables…very creative 😀
I don’t know about you guys but as a newbie here in NYC I got really excited about the Greenmarket and as far as I know it takes place in Union Square every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday! Have you ever been to one? Do you have any favorite products sold at the Greenmarket?
