On March 6th 2013, we visited and experimented with the Makey Makey system; it is essentially a keyboard operating system that allows you to connect various inputs into the circuit board to produce the same outcome as any other keyboard would do. At this session, we were given the task of creating something using the system that could work with the programs already set and installed for us, or something completely new and creative. For my group, we did not so much take the creative route, as we ended up creating a board that would work with the sound board program available on the site. However, we did try to be creative in the sense of what inputs would be used to generate the corresponding keys.
Relating this to writing, I can see the connections between the composition of both and how in a sense, various inputs can still produce the same output. You can pretty much, create an essay in any form you want, just like the Makey Makey keyboard circuit, and still perform the task of creating an essay; there is no essential structure for creativity and innovation. Besides inputs, outputs, and composing essays, I learned more about the Makey Makey system in the sense of its various inputs and possibilities of use. It is true that it is inferior to the efficiency of a keyboard, but it is still more fun to use as opposed to a normal keyboard. All in all, it was a nice experience to have as a class and it was a complete change of pace for me.
