It’s quite obvious that midterms are coming up before the long awaited spring break and that people are rushing to study, review, and even cram for their classes. Now, usually I would do the same, but this is my first experience outside of my block and I find it quite difficult to study on my own. So, what will I do about this? Generally, I will attempt to make the best out of this first experience with exams and then formulate a method of studying for future use in my coming semesters. However, this seems like a difficult task in itself, so I might just wing my examinations.
Besides the option of attempting to study and winging exams, I’ve been given many ideas as to how to study and what to study, but I don’t feel the necessity of memorizing your way through for a grade; after all, you don’t really learn much from the memorization of terms and theories. In essense, I’m just trying to find a way for myself to learn the material without resorting to winging or just flat out memorization. Thus, I will ask those who have read this to comment down below as to how you would go about these examinations and course subjects.
Stephane,
I usually like to construct my own study sheet and provide examples that will help me understand and remember the concept, vocab, etc. Also, I have to disagree with you on memorization, I think memorization definitely helps me learn the idea, concept, vocab, whatever. I am a HUGE user of flash cards and the study guide method i mentioned. My last piece of advice, definitely don’t cram, it’s not the way to go and you’ll just find yourself stressed and almost destined to do poorly.
Best of luck!
