I figure since we are doing poems this week, I might as well test my creative side and attempt a poem of my own. I used to enjoy writing poems in high school but never had a chance to construct something of my own preference as there was always a specific topic given to the class. Anyway, here goes nothing…
No Place Like Home
Gotham City, Metropolis, Empire State
If your second you’re last, if you’re not early you’re late
A demanding city hidden behind bright lights
The “man” never knew a quiet night
Yellow cabs, shopping bags, bird droppings
Tall buildings, tailored suits, tourists and ice cream toppings
A city of endless diversity
A city of renowned universities
The Cage, is8, Rucker Park
The real ballers come out after dark
Just beware the hater hiding the chrome
Despite the danger, this is my city, my home.

Rucker Park
I hope that wasn’t too bad haha. Definitely fun though.
I applaud you, Jason! What was it like to try your hand at poetry?
I always enjoyed learning/writing poetry.. I was never too good at it but I still appreciate and enjoy the fun of poetry.
Great poem! I used to kind of enjoy writing poems too, but that was a longgg time ago and i forgot about it lol. But you should definitely keep at it! 🙂
