I consider my self to be one of the most pickiest person. I’m literally picky about everything such as food, cars, clothes, etc. I’m even picky about poetry since I’m not a huge fan of poetry to begin with. I don’t find poetry that interesting unless I feel like it conveys a deep meaning. I remember I told this to my English teacher in high school and she flipped saying” EVERY POETRY HAS A MEANING.” My English teacher at the time was a little bit crazy but I still never really found a lot of the poetry to have a deep meaning behind them. I always just thought of it as a different way to tell a story. In AP English Iv read dozens of poems and still didn’t like any of them. It’s after I took Eng 2100 that poetry became more interesting to me because my professors showed as a different view on them and how creative they can really be.
However, there is one poem that I tend to like a lot. Its short and leaves you wondering what the meaning behind it is. That poem is by Ernest Hemingway and consists only of 6 words. It goes like this, “For Sale. Baby Shoes. Never Worn.” Its a simple poem but this is one of the few poems I found very interesting. At first it boggles my mind because I wondered how this is a poem at all but after doing some research and wrritng an essay about it, I saw how creative Ernest Hemingway was. For the past week, we have been challenegd to be creative and think a little differently. I think that poems like Hemingway’s does exactly that because its not like any ordinary poem and with little words, it really challenges you to figure out the meaning behind it.
