Poetry

I have always liked poetry but also hated it from time to time. Poetry is a very cool but an unusual form of art. The words do not have to make sense when one is stumped with what to write or if they just wish to have some fun when writing a poem. Poetry is cool in the way that everyone interprets poerty in their own unique way that no one else can fully understand. Every poem written was written with purpose whether it is to be comical, serious, etc. I will say when poetry was first introduced to me I absolutely loathed it. I did noot understand it and i always thought that their had to be some secret meaning behind writing the poem. I always found myself getting frustated when I read a poem and either I did not understand what the poem was about or I did not understand the language of the piece. I must say though writing poetry whether it is good or not is very easy to write. One can write a poem in under five minutes if they so please, but on the contrary it can also be a long a tedious process. For example the short poem in the book we had to read for Wednesday’s class could have taken a poet two seconds or a week to write. And anyone can be a poet all it takes is a pen, some paper, and some creative ideas and BAM you have yourself a poet. Poetry is funny in that way anyone can do it and it does not require a ridiculous amount of skill to do it. Yes their are the great poets that are remembered but they are not the only ones that have contributed to the artistic world. Poetry is very interesting but the thing that gets to me when thinking about poetry is the coffee shop scenes I would always see as a kid and think “No way will I ever go to cafe just to snap my fingers in applause for someone’s poem. ” No I am not passionate about poetry but when I do read an intresting piece I will have it on my mind for a while (which is annoying).

I thought we had to write a response paper so I just used what I wrote and changed a few things around which is why this is being posted about 30 minutes before class.
