For me, revising is as difficult as writing a brand new essay. it is because i already have laid out the ideas and written my best for the rough draft, so that I don’t have much left. As usual, I have a problem with Thesis statement. I can’t write a thesis statement specific and argumentative enough. Even though i thought I had a thesis. Actually, it turned out that I didn’t. When you write a paper, how do you think and write a thesis statement? It would be very helpful to know some kinds of technique or ways of thinking. Also every time I write a paper, I am always lack of ideas. It takes a few hours for me to get an idea and then takes several hours to write a paper. Sometimes, I have to spend a few days to write a complete three page paper. I don’t think there is a way to speed up my writing.
Another problems I face when i have to write a paper are sentence variety and Grammar. For sentence variety, it is not very difficult to make various sentences. I just need to take time to edit. However, for Grammar, especially tenses. I learn tenses throughout my life and I understand them, but it is strange that when I write, I usually use the wrong tenses and jump from one tense to another. I rarely see my mistakes. I might have some grammar mistakes in this post as well. I read out loud my essay, but the sentences always seem correct to me.
This is the first time I have to do a close reading of a poem, so it is harder to get an argument for the thesis and ideas. Reading a poem is not like a reading a regular paragraph. Now I have some points to write about, but I am struggling with organizing my ideas and making them clear to the readers. I am excited about this essay because this is new to me and also worried that my points won’t make sense.
