This assignment has felt sort of like a shakespeare play with respect to the fact that a lot of the poems have cryptic and non straight forward meanings. However, with that being said, it came as a shock to me when I started writing. You, professor, taught us how to really free write, and before EVERY paper I free write for a few minutes and filter out what I think is relevant. In the end, once I start writing the official paper, it comes to me like a breeze. Although it was so difficult to fully understand Reznikoff, once I put myself in his place, and wrote about what I thought it meant, it came to me as if he were speaking to me. The power of a close read is so strong that it will just bring you in so close that you have no other choice but to just feel, listen, and agree with what the author is trying to convey.
The process at first wasn’t easy, and like I said, it only became easy once i free wrote and did what I thought would be best did it actually come like a breeze. But, I do understand that it is not perfect, and I am waiting to hear back from my peer evaluations to fully assess how I should go about my revision. I am lucky that I had the fortune of having my paper on the board (I wish you went through the whole thing! not just the intro!) but I can’t be greedy… The whole riddle of writing through this poem has been an enjoyable experience, and I actually found it to be a lot easier than the first paper (anyone else agree?) I am excited to hear back from the evaluations and im looking forward to revising my first paper! It is never easy, and I may have struggled with it, but in the end, it feels good to be able to write 5 pages on something you thought made no sense and now relates to your life in almost every single way.
