I am having a bit of difficulty in the revision of my essay. I was finally able to find the movie Wild Style on the internet. After talking to Professor Kaufman, I realized that I am on the right track in terms of writing a close reading. As I watch and analyze the movie over the next few days I will watch for images and other devices to help prove my argument. I am also having trouble with my thesis so I am looking forward to getting feedback from the peer review. This seemed easy at first but it is proving to be not as easy as I had envisioned earlier but even so the writing process is an enjoyable one.
I love that I am able to write about/ attack issues or events that are important to me personally. In my past english classes, I had been forced to write about different pieces of literature but I would always ask how doing this would help in my future career. I actually feel that I am learning something new. Never had I had to perform a close reading, never had I been challenged to analyze and critique my own work as I am currently. I am being challenged to think at a higher degree than I did before and that is great to say the least. I am excited to see my final product.
