In my free blog for today/tomorrow, I want to discuss the topic of the rewriting and drafting process. I spent majority of my weekend working, running errands, tackling some spring cleaning and rewriting my paper (our first paper). While doing so, I read my paper over several times before rereading the comments and feedback from my peers and professor Kaufman. I thought it would be interesting for me to read my paper aloud, backwards, and very slowly while making small notations of my own thoughts on the side with a post-it note. I found those tactics, just as we did in class, to be quite useful. It really helps isolate some words and give you a feeling of whether or not they really fit or if there could be something better. I then read the comments and feedback over again and it was ten times easier to understand and agree with the feedback. In fact, I was able to agree and “hunt out” more similar instances where I thought I could improve. I hope you all REALLY try the rereading tactics like we did in class as I wonder if you all feel that it helps as well. Finally, I think it’s great that we are able to rewrite our paper for an opportunity to get a better grade as drafts are never ending and will always have room for improvement.
Side note:
LET’S GO KNICKSSSSSSS!!!
Wow–so interesting to hear that you read the paper backwards!
