Blog: Paper #2 – Questions/Concerns/Status

So far my revising is going pretty well. I’ve decided to use the poem “On Brooklyn bridge I saw a man drop dead”, by Charles Reznikoff. After reading the entire texts I’ve decided to set my focus mainly on poems 7, 11, 12, and 15. I noticed that all of these poems shared a similar main idea, which I believe to be is the importance and significance of people as a whole and an individual. I used this main idea and made it into my thesis for the paper. However, I am a little worried about how I will write a three to five page paper on this without ultimately sounding repetitive. I am also worried about the intro, because I want it to have a great hook that catches the reader’s attention by intriguing him/her and by poking into at his/her curiosity.

Even though I’m a little worried about the length of my paper, in terms of content not context, I am excited to be able to analyze these poems on paper. I am eager to prove to the reader that my thesis is correct and has the evidence to support it. I am excited to give the reader a new perspective on the poems as well as a new interpretation. I have a basic idea of how I will tie it all together in my conclusion and on how I will organize the paragraphs so that they flow correctly. I am also excited to receive feedback so that I can improve my paper and fix any flaw it may end up having.
