I am a person who lacks creativity so this for me is harder than the essay itself. I am currently confused on watch can I actually do. We are told to create a video which I have no idea how to do. I done even own a camera. But after so serious brain storming I have one idea. The poem I have selected is Amiri Baraka’s “Black Art. I have chosen to focus on the speech aspect of the poem. The role and importance of speech as evidence that we are alive because we are able to communicate and interact through literacy and this innate ability should not be deprived from us. A Baraka urges for Blacks to take up writing because it is existence. We all have the ability to speak and through speech we are able to convey our purpose and make a long lasting statement and stamp on history.
My idea is to create a presentation without speech. To depict a world without speech. People who are unable to communicate through words. A silent world where no one will understand each other. I want this presentation to give viewers the impression that literature is necessary, to not think lightly of this ability and to show this I must create a world without it to show the incredible difficultly due to a lack of speak. I want viewers to understand that we should use our ability to its full potential instead of taking it for granted. But I am conflicted as if I will be making a silent video because then itll just look like a picture slideshow or I can add some type of sub titles to state my point then proceed to display incomprehensible images such as other language or symbols and acts that we are unable to comprehend unless we converse.
