As I have changed to focus on a new poem, my previous ideas posted on the digital essay do not fit well. The poem I am going to do is called “The Sad Part Is” by Eileen Myles. I have two ideas for the video, but I am not sure which one I want to do and which is more appropriate to do. My first idea is that I am going to videotape empty space such as an empty classroom, cafeteria, or just a room. It can also be a space between two objects, two buildings. I might want to add an escalator running without anyone on it and so on (I am not sure what else I can add). The point is that I want the viewers to get some kind of emptiness, sadness and/or tranquility.
My second idea is that I will start with the darkness and then switch on the light. That light should spotlight only one thing that can be anything (a chair, a book, a pen). But I don’t know how to do it. The idea is similar to the scene of the narrator in the poem. She is sitting under the overhead light and the other part of her apartment is dark.
