This essay is definitely the more difficult of the bunch. As if falling in love with a poem wasn’t hard enough. Luckily this paper required research, something I am comfortable and enjoy doing. Given the task to come up with a thesis ourselves opens up the chance for greats success or cliche. This part troubled me the most. I wonder if my readers will understand my perspective/arguments because they may not even see how I can up with such a ridiculous thesis. Another concern I encountered while writing essay#3 is repetition. I find myself repeating certain ideas to stress its importance but it has come to the point that they have become too repetitive. I will have to comb through my essay to establish clarity and clear repetition or else the paper will sound dull and repetitive.
My thesis was improperly stated. It did not tell the reader exactly what I was trying to argue for but I instead cloud around it. After my meeting with Prof.Kaufman I was able identify my true thesis in words and implement it into my introduction. I remember there be a technique where one would skip the thesis and introduction and write the rest of the essay first. In doing so one can clearly see what they are arguing for and establish a thesis from that. In this case instead of establishing a thesis let your establishments establish your thesis for you. I believe that to be from The Imaginative Argument by Frank Cioffi. Clarity is incredibly important for this essay. If an idea makes sense in your head it does not necessarily mean it will make sense on paper. Be sure to write in a manner than someone who have not read your poem is able to understand your thesis and argument.
