I found the digital essay to be much better than the essay portion of the project. Although they were both just as time-consuming I found the process of creating the digital essay entertaining. I got to revisit the many movies I have enjoyed watching the first time. I also learned a lot from making the short video clip. It was hard, however, to find the exact clips I wanted that would fit together well enough to look like a real movie. I think everything turned out better than I had expected, especially the time length of the video. My video is actually three minutes and twenty seconds and I was worried at the start of the project that it wouldn’t even make a minute and a half.
I did not figure out what my digital essay was going to be about until almost the last minute the essay was due, this is because I did not know what what my thesis was going to be about. After I figured out my essay I knew what my digital part was going to be about but the digital essay definitely did contribute to writing my essay.
I had many problems with finding a program or software that actually works with my computer and meets my needs. I had a lot of trouble finding usable movies and clips, not to mention cropping them out and fitting them together. Learning how to mute the video and adding music to it wasn’t too easy either. Altogether it was definitely a time-consuming and challenging task but nonetheless enjoyable.
