Digital essay

The digital essay turned out to be a lot better looking than I expected. At first, I was thinking of recording a funny video at home with a camera and then video editing it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find models for my video and the idea, I believe, was not strong and impactful enough. Thus, I changed my plan for the digital essay a day before and I am glad I did because it ended up great.

But the tedious, painstaking and frustrating process that I went through in trying to edit videos took most of my time over the weekend. Since I could not work on my laptop which broke down a couple of weeks ago, I was left with working on my antiquated PC which   would hang several times while I downloaded video editing softwares and most of them would not open after download was complete. So, I was literally going crazy in trying different softwares and editing the videos with them. In the end, I tried one which worked and I was able to do it with.

My digital essay video is not on the paper but the poem itself. My paper was too complicated to somehow translate into a video, so I chose to do it on my poem “To the Mountains” by Eileen Myles. Since the poem is very difficult to understand, I wanted my video to be a funny and simplistic take on my interpretation of the poem. In the end, I really enjoyed the outcome, and it even made me laugh! So, I hope all that effort is worthwhile and everyone enjoys watching the video as much as I did!
