I can describe the process of creating a digital essay in one word “unexpected.” Until the last moment I did not have the strict plan and vision of what the project is going to look like. However, my poem choice for the research paper still helped me a lot by giving a wide but a certain direction to go.
Without any idea what the essay will look like, I decided to start “free writing.” Wherever I went, my camera was always with me. I kept recording everything that seemed a bit interesting. That is how, there appeared quite a big collection of short videos. The next step was the process of going through the recorded stuff and sorting it. That helped me to combine the related ideas together. After that I just had to make a couple more videos and start the editing by trimming, putting them in a right order, and choosing the music and visual effects.
I actually enjoyed the process a lot. At some point it seems even more interesting than an actual writing an essay on a paper. However, both processes have a lot in common. The digital essay I created have several thoughts to develop. A viewer is going to pick one which relates to him/her more closely.
