Digital Essay: “Having a Coke With You”

So, it seems we’ve come to the end of the semester and this is our last hoo-rah.

This is a video of a slideshow I put together since I am not too video savvy. I used two DSLR Cameras – Canon Rebel XTi (mine) and a Fujifilm Xpro1 (my cousins). Essentially, I tried to deliver the message of how we overlook the moments that go by quicker than the blink of an eye. In reference to the poem, these moments can be thought of as the moments we share people over a drink, a coke. In the poem, O’Hara is speaking to his beloved partner; although, these moments could be shared with anyone. I tried to capture moments that none would really think of capturing or appreciating.

Honestly, I found this project to be somewhat difficult because I’m not too video-knowledgeable which is why I decided to do stills with my DSLR. However, I did enjoy the process of putting together a slideshow and using the software/application when editing. I really enjoyed interpreting a poem of my choosing and creating this digital aspect. Doing this project also made me want to upgrade my camera to a DSLR that can also shoot videos.

I wonder what interpretations you all may have of this poem and or the pictures I’ve chosen for my interpretations…

I hope you all enjoy my video… I truly enjoyed meeting/sharing this class with you all.
